How Savannah Generations Evolve
Discover how each Savannah generation gradually transitions from the African Serval while maintaining the breed's beauty, intelligence, and athleticism.

African Serval
Native to the grasslands, wetlands, and savannahs of sub-Saharan Africa, where tall grass and open plains define its world.
Tall, lean, and remarkably athletic. Long legs, oversized ears, and vivid golden coats with bold black spotting.
The foundation species of the Savannah Cat. Every generation traces its look back to the Serval.
Servals leap over nine feet in the air to catch prey and possess the longest legs of any wild cat relative to body size.

What is SBT?
SBT stands for Stud Book Tradition. A Savannah Cat achieves SBT status beginning with the F4 generation when it has been produced from Savannah-to-Savannah breedings for at least four consecutive generations. SBT Savannahs are considered established domestic cats by TICA while still retaining the distinctive appearance and personality that make the breed unique.

Common Myths
More Than Just A Generation
Generation influences size, energy, and appearance, but it is only part of the story.
Responsible breeding, health testing, genetics, temperament, nutrition, and early socialization all play equally important roles in shaping a healthy, well-socialized Savannah Cat.
Every kitten is an individual. We pair families with the Savannah whose personality truly fits their home, not simply a generation on paper.
